Oldham County EMS has a long and distinguished record of providing the finest in emergency care. Our beginnings were in the volunteer fire houses. As the county grew, the volunteers could no longer provide the continuous coverage required by an increasing populace.

Oldham County Emergency Medical Service was founded in 1991 when the citizens of the county voted to pass a tax to provide for a paid paramedic service. Prior to this, the ambulances rolled from the volunteer fire departments with all volunteer crews. Oldham County Paramedics was incorporated in 1989 as a not-for-profit charity (501C3 #61-1164461).

Oldham County Paramedics merged with the ambulance service and all 911 calls dispatch both an ambulance and paramedic. Paramedics provide higher level of advance life support and can administer drugs on the scene and en route to the hospital.
