Oldham County EMS has been approved
by the
American Heart Association! After months of
work, planning and detailed audits, OCEMS
received approval from AHA as a BLS Training
Center in November 2006. As a Training Center,
OCEMS is committed to providing all of it’s
instructors with timely communication of new or
updated information from the National and
Regional Centers and the most current tools for
teaching BLS HCP, Heartsaver and Family and
Friends provider courses. Training Center
Coordinator, Bobbi Nelson has appointed EJ Mike
and Bill Netherton as Training Center Faculty to
assist in providing quality assurance and
educational leadership. Kathy Toborowsky is the
Regional Faculty assigned to the Training
Center. In 2006, the instructors at OCEMS taught
CPR and First Aid to approximately 400 students
and hope to double that in 2007.
CPR classes are
scheduled for the 4th Saturday every month (by
pre-registration only) and groups needing
certification can arrange for classes to fit
their schedule. A CPR Instructor class has been
scheduled for early
February and CPR Anytime is
being planned towards the end of the month. We
are also planning an AHA Core Instructor Course
in March. If you would like more information,
contact Bobbi Nelson at 502.222.7250 or email
bobbine@oldhamcountyems.com All
AHA
instructors, regardless of your teaching
discipline, are urged to register on the
American Heart Association Instructor network
http://ahainstructornetwork.org to stay
up-to-date with the latest ECC information and
exchange information with fellow instructors and
TC Coordinators about best practices, networking
opportunities, information and benefits. Best of
all, registering with the Network is free and
will prove to be a valuable tool for the
instructor.
Oldham County EMS wishes to congratulate
Paramedic EJ Mike for his appointment as
Regional BLS Faculty, and Paramedic Paul Skaggs
for his appointment as Regional PALS Faculty. |
